Student demonstrators in London carry improvised riot shields made to look like large books, a technique learned from their Greek comrades.

The two titles you can’t see because of the policeman’s head are Adorno’s Negative Dialectics (a difficult theoretical work that attacks capitalism) and Huxley’s dystopian novel Brave New World (a frightening vision of a totally managed, ultra-modernist society).
